Trip Overview

Mardi Himal Trek

The greatest short, moderate-level, recently opened trip in the Annapurna region is the Mardi Himal trip. The trip starts in Kande (1706 meters) and ends at Upper Viewpoint, which is around 4200 meters above sea level. Ascending into the skies, you will find snow-capped mountains, verdant woods, and ethnic settlements. This will take you far into the Annapurna area, renowned for its abundant, pure natural beauty. Hiking through a varied biodiversity will expose you to the plants and animals of the mountains.

Also, you’ll get to experience some interactions with people from a more rural culture. These routes also lead to thick pine forests, terraced fields, hillside communities, and lovely homesteads. You will be treated to breathtaking views of famous mountain ranges including Hiunchuli, Annapurna, and Machhapuchhre. After traversing ridges, you eventually arrive at the top viewpoint close to a Mardi Himal base camp. Mount Machhapuchhre is seen directly in front of you, providing an amazing vista from the location.

We at Nepal Hiking Team are eager to lead you along this well-known and cherished path. Take part in the Mardi Himal Trek for nine days and experience something promising and unforgettable.

Mardi Himal Trek History and Glory

Mardi Himal is a 5,587-meter-tall peak in the Annapurna region of Nepal that is located next to Machhapuchhare, also known as Fishtail. A relatively new travel route that has gained popularity among both foreigners and native Nepalese people is the Mardi Himal trek.

Speaking of the history of the Mardi Himal journey, mountaineer Basil Goodfellow was the first person to reach the summit in 1961. But the trek wasn’t formally available to hikers until 2012.

A new route was created after 2012 and leads to High Camp (3,550m) via gorgeous cliffs and quaint guesthouses and teahouses. The walk continues to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500m) from Upper Viewpoint (4,200m) for those seeking even more excitement.

Beginning in Pokhara, Nepal’s premier tourism destination, the journey winds via the quaint villages of Dhampus and Pothana. It travels to the Mardi Himal base camp at an elevation of 4500 meters after traversing through verdant forests of rhododendron, oak, and bamboo.

Even though the trail is occasionally steep and narrow as we hike through grassy pastures, the peaceful warmth of the early morning light permeates the entire experience. Against the backdrop of the rising mountains, we may be lucky enough to see dzo, a stunning cross between yaks and cattle, grazing peacefully as morning breaks.

Sheep and goats graze in these colorful pastures throughout the summer, interspersed with the occasional herder’s cabin. Look out for the vibrant danphe, which is quite impressive in the early morning light. We will arrive at the Upper View Point, a rocky vantage point at around 4,200 meters, after three hours of climbing.

The world opens up in front of us here, revealing stunning vistas of the Annapurna Sanctuary, home to giants like Machapuchare, Hiunchuli, Mardi Himal, and Annapurna I. Here, we’ll pause to soak in the view before making our way back to High Camp for a well-earned breakfast.

We refuel and continue our descent to Badal Danda, bringing with us the memories of the peaceful morning and the breathtaking grandeur of the mountains. Breakfast, this early start today, and everything after are just stages in our trek over the Himalayas that will never be forgotten.
