Sightseeing in Kathmandu

After breakfast today, we begin a guided visit of four Kathmandu UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The old royal palaces of the former Kathmandu Kingdom are located in Kathmandu Durbar Square. For Hindus worldwide, one of the holiest places to visit is the Pashupatinath Temple. In Kathmandu, we also visit well-known Buddhist stupas.Because there are so many monkeys in the Swayambhunath temple region, travelers commonly refer to this city’s center as the Monkey Temple. Among the holiest places for Buddhist pilgrimages and tourists to visit in Kathmandu, Bouddhanath is one of the biggest stupas in the world. There are more than fifty Tibetan gompas, or monasteries, in the Boudhnath area.
