Trip Overview

Jomsom Muktinath Trek

Journey from Pokhara to the pilgrimage site of Muktinath along the Kali Gandaki River valley on the Jomsom trek. That’s also included in the Annapurna Circuit hike. Muktinath is considered by both Hinduism and Buddhism to be the location where all five elements—fire, water, sky, earth, and air—are present. Water rises from 108 places in the holy shrine. Walking from Jomsom to Muktinath is a great experience in natural beauty. The trail winds through Mustang’s desert and rugged cliffs, as well as woodlands filled with vivid red rhododendrons. Track: The Kali Gandaki River is followed by the trail.  This river forms the world’s largest gorge, with Dhaulagiri and the Annapurna mountain range on opposite sides. Views of eight of the world’s twenty highest summits can be seen between the two ranges.

The river bed of the Kali Gandaki is a quarter of a mile wide; it is essentially dry in the winter and fills with rainwater and melting snow during the monsoon. Fossils can be found along the banks of the Kali Gandaki River, which are considered holy rocks in Hinduism. Rich Hindu and Tibetan Buddhist culture can be seen along the walk. Following a meandering route through Nepal’s Lower Mustang, the trail ends at Kagbeni, a Tibetan-inspired settlement replete with prayer wheels and a Buddhist temple. At 3,800 meters, Muktinath, a holy site of temples revered for generations by both Buddhists and Hindus, is the highest point on the trek.

The thrilling Jomsom Muktinath Trek takes place in Nepal’s Mustang and Annapurna districts. Our trail passes through a number of villages, including Marpha, Kagbeni, Ghorepani, Tatopani, Ghasa, and Thikhedunga. It also passes by gorgeous forests, an incredible waterfall, and a stunning vista of the Dhaulagiri Range and the Annapurna. This trip is offered by Mission Nepal Holiday to help you have a great vacation. This trek is a good option for anyone who enjoys the outdoors, is a believer in religion, is a researcher, or wants to see different parts of Nepal.
