Trip Overview

Everest Base Camp with Island Peak Climbing

Most usually, trekkers choose to just go to Everest Base Camp and back. Few people have the bravery to decide on such a demanding and challenging undertaking as peak climbing. We have designed a very adventurous and interesting route for individuals who have plenty of time and a strong desire to experience climbing both Everest Base Camp and Island Peak. The EBCIPC Trek is one of the most popular and beloved treks in the world, taking us closer to the world’s highest peak. The Himalayan region of Nepal’s Khumbu is the setting for the story. This tour delivers an experience and sight that words cannot express, the authentic cultural and natural magnificence of Khumbu, and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see the Everest massifs and a sight and experience that are beyond words. The adventure is inspiring and breathtaking from beginning to end. A lasting impression is made by the natural beauty as well as the cultural center. It is an accomplishment in and of itself to be standing before the highest peak in the world.

We take a short, thrilling flight to Lukla to begin your experience with EBCIPC. As soon as you arrive at Lukla Airport, the highest airport in the world, you can feel the atmosphere shifting. You are greeted by the cool Himalayan breeze. The walk begins at the routes and travels through communities made up of ethnic Sherpas to base camp. In a rural highland area, you can live like a local, away from the contemporary world.

Your eyes will be wide open the whole journey due to the magnificent Himalayas. The place has an ethereal beauty due to the stunning mountains. Walking across rhododendron forests, suspension bridges, and towering ridge lines is an amazing experience. You will spend the night in popular locations such as Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche, and Gorakshep. Each community offers beautiful mountain vistas and a unique cultural significance. Along the way, stupas, gumbas, chortens, and colorful prayer flags greet and entice us. The top of Island Peak, which resembles an island surrounded by glaciers, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Himalayas!

Highlights of the EBCIPC Trek

Following a short flight to Lukla, the hiking path leads to the Everest Base Camp with Island Peak Climbing by passing through various ethnic Sherpa communities, such as Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, and many more. During the trek, there are highlights at every milepost. Namche Bazaar, the starting point for Mount Everest and a place well-known for its Sherpas, will be on your itinerary. It has also historically functioned as a hub for traders from the Himalaya and the lowlands. This village offers breathtaking views of the mountains, including Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Lhoste, Kongdi RI, Kusum Kanguru, and Mount Everest.

The Everest View Hotel, located 3,962 meters above sea level, offers spectacular views of Mount Everest from the windows of each accommodation. We’ll hike to the hotel to see Mount Everest’s majesty and elegance. Hiking for three to four hours is a breathtaking natural experience.

We go through the valleys of the Dudh Koshi and Imja Rivers on our way to Tengboche, the spiritual center of Khumbu. Tengboche Monastery is the oldest Buddhist monastery in Khumbu. It provides amazing vistas of Ama Dablam and Everest. You are going to Kala Patthar, which is a perspective. It provides stunning, expansive views of Everest’s summits. We start the hike early in the morning to catch a glimpse of the glittering sunrise among the Himalayas.

The path meanders through the UNESCO-designated Sagarmatha National Park, which is under protection. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife, such as musk deer, munal martens, snow leopards, red pandas, and Himalayan black bears.

The most important part of this expedition is gaining the experience of peak climbing that will last a lifetime.

Acclimatization at the Namche Bazaar

We have set aside today as our acclimatization day. Health experts urge us to get active and go for walks on our days off rather than wasting them lying around. There are a few options accessible as of right now. We can go to the Everest View Hotel for an up-close view of the huge Everest, or we can take a leisurely stroll through the quaint towns of Namche to learn about the rich culture of the Sherpa people. Trekkers can also spend time in Namche village, or after returning from their journey to the Everest View Hotel, at the local museum, which features exhibits detailing the history of the Mount Everest region, as well as the local flora and wildlife.

Trekkers who are up for a little more distance could think about spending five to six hours hiking to get to Khumjung village. In the vicinity, we can see the Edmund Hillary School and Khumjung Monastery, which is renowned for containing the head of a Yeti. At Namche Bazaar, spend the night.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site of “outstanding universal value” is located within the Sagarmatha National Park, which includes Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. It provides a full 360-degree view of the Himalayas. The monastery opens at 3:00 pm, so with luck, we might be able to see a glimpse of a holy ceremony.

Acclimatization at the Dingboche

Today we are reserving for our acclimatization. Today you will trek to the top of Nagerjun Hill, which is near Dingboche. Even if the climb is a little strenuous, the magnificent vistas of the Imja valley from the top make the effort worthwhile. We will reach Nagerjun, which provides expansive views of Ama Dablam (6856m), Taboche Peak (6367m), Kangtega (6685m), Lobuche East (6119m), and Lobuche West (6145m), after around five hours of walking. Dingboche to Lobuche 4910m/16105ft.

We left Dingboche today headed toward the small settlement of Lobuche. Reaching Lobuche, a little community at the foot of the Lobuche peaks, requires hiking through lush farms and forests. While traveling, you can also get fantastic views of peaks like the Pumori, the Lingtern, and the Khumbutse Himalayan peak.

Lobuche to Everest Base Camp 5364m/17594ft. and back to Gorakshep 5181m/16994ft.

In our journey to Everest Base Camp, we pass by the formerly huge Gorak Shep Lake. Straight ahead, we come at the Indian Army Mountaineers memorials. We must attentively follow our lead Sherpa as there may be deviations on this trail. This high altitude makes the hike challenging due to the thin air. We reach the Everest Base Camp after crossing rough dunes, streams, and moraines. When we reach the Everest Base Camp, the brightly colored tents of the mountaineers stand out against the dull gray surroundings, especially in the spring. The mountains of Pumori, Khumbuste, and Nuptse are seen from the base camp. We head back to Gorak Shep in hopes of getting a good night’s rest.

Hiking to Kalapatthar (5545m/18187ft), return back to Lobuche

As daylight approaches and the temperature drops to between -10 and -14 degrees Celsius, we prepare to leave early in the morning. There’s also the constant possibility of frigid winds, which occur regularly. Familiar peaks such as Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse tower to the east even as Everest begins to show itself. But we won’t be able to see the amazing 360-degree views of Mount Everest up close until we arrive at Kala Patthar. After taking in the magnificent view of the mountains and taking some pictures, we return to Lobuche for a peaceful evening.

After breakfast, we go over the Khumbu Glacier to Kongma La Base Camp, which is situated at 5,001 meters (16,404 feet). The ascent to Kongma La Pass is the most difficult portion of today’s walk. A prayer flag-adorned cairn designates the pass in the Kongma La. Subsequently, we descend gently to the Imja Khola valley, and then descend once more to the small summer town of Chhukung. When we get to Chhukung, we’ll also check our equipment in order to get ready for our final climb. Stay overnight at Chhukung.

Note: If we decide not to cross the Kongma La pass, we have another route to Chhukung via Dingboche.

Chhukung to Island Peak base camp 5200m/17061ft.

The trail to Island Peak Base Camp is rather steep. To get to the main line of the valley, we first climb south and then turn east. From there, we follow a short track that runs beneath the southern side of the moraine that supports the Lhotse Glacier. From there, we continue on a pleasant trail along to a stream. The route to the Amphu Labtsa lies to the southeast. A narrow trail that winds through the moraines of the Imja and Lhotse glaciers leads to a wide valley that borders the southwest face of Island Peak.

Pre Climb training at Island Peak Base Camp

We begin our pre-climb training this morning after breakfast. Peak climbing techniques and the use of climbing equipment, such as harnesses, ascenders, ice axes, climbing boots, and crampons, will be covered by our guides. Using ropes for both ascent and descent is another aspect of ropes training. Although pre-existing fitness is not a prerequisite for Island Peak Climbing, we sincerely believe that it will improve your confidence and climbing skills, raising your chances of success and enabling you to fully enjoy the experience. For the rest of the day, we can either head to high camp and back or just kick back and get ready for our ascent the next day.

Island Peak base camp to Island Peak summit ,back to base camp 6189m/20306ft.

We rise early today, eating breakfast between one and two in the morning, and then beginning our climb. We must reach the top before noon, since strong winds from the highlands in the afternoon may make the ascent more challenging. Before dropping steeply into the hill, the trail climbs for a few hundred meters above the base camp. The path is initially sandy, but it soon transitions to grass before being strewn with large rocks. As we climb the hill and the slope narrows, we’ll observe that the track turns into a steep rock channel. We climb the craggy gorge. This is not difficult, although there are a few short rock steps to climb before we emerge on the right side of the gully. Subsequently, the path proceeds along a ridgeline, reaching a thrilling and perilous crossing onto the top glacier’s muzzle. The guides will secure a rope if needed. We climb steeply through the snow to the top ridge. Both a man rope and a fixed rope will be used for safety during the climb. We utilize a fixed rope once we have successfully climbed a rock. The rope is usually 350 meters long. However, the length fluctuates depending on the season and the crevasses. There are two recently formed crevasses that are around three and four meters long. We’re going to utilize ladders to go over them. After admiring the views from the top and taking photos, we make our way all the way down to Island Peak Base Camp, where a few members of our crew are waiting for us. We celebrate our successful summit of Island Peak.

Island Peak Base Camp to Pangboche 3985m/13075ft

The hike today will get much easier as we near the lower elevations. We retrace our route across the wide Khumbu Khola valley, passing via the charming Sherpa settlements of Orsho and Shomare. As an alternative, we can travel the standard route to Pangboche and then veer off to see the Upper Pangboche Gompa, which is reputed to be the oldest in the Khumbu region. The lovely village of Pangboche is bounded by the Kongde range to the south, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kangtaiga to the east, Everest to the north, and the Imja Tse river, which flows through a wide, verdant valley, to the west.

Pangboche to Namche Bazaar 3,438m/11,280ft

After leaving Pangboche, we return over the same route, ascending through the forest to Tengboche and down to the Imja Khola. If you would like, we can also see the nuns at Tengboche monastery. After lunch at Tengboche, we continue through the slope dotted with rhododendron and juniper trees. After crossing the Dudh Koshi River bridge, our trail continues down the Dudh Koshi Gorge, quickly descending through the pine forests to Sansa. We search the region as we move through the forest for creatures like mountain goats, snow leopards, and colorful pheasants. We reach the army camp in Namche Bazaar after passing through a chorten.
