Kathmandu, Nepal, October 20, 2024 – A group of thirteen Malaysian nationals & two Singapore has successfully completed their trek to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), marking a significant achievement in their trekking/hiking journey. The trek, organized by Mission Nepal Holidays, a leading adventure travel company in the Himalaya, took place from October 11 to October 20, 2024.
The diverse group, consisting of both experienced hikers and first-time trekkers ranging in age from 35 to 66, navigated the challenging terrain of the Annapurna region, eventually reaching the base camp at an impressive altitude of 4,130 meters (13,550 feet).
“This achievement represents not just a physical accomplishment but also embodies the spirit of international adventure tourism in Nepal,” said Arjun Tamang, lead guide from Mission Nepal Holidays. “The Malaysian group showed remarkable determination and adaptability throughout the journey.”
The ten-day trek began in the picturesque town of Pokhara, following the classic ABC route through diverse landscapes and cultural landmarks. Trekkers experienced the region’s dramatic elevation changes, moving from subtropical valleys to alpine terrain, while passing through traditional Gurung villages and dense rhododendron forests.
Group leader Mr. Ganeshan Sinniah commented on the experience: “The journey was transformative for all of us. From the warm hospitality of the local communities to the breathtaking views of the Annapurna range, every day brought new wonders. The professional support from Mission Nepal Holidays made this challenging trek achievable for our entire team.”
The trek’s highlights included:
Despite challenging weather conditions in the higher elevations, including occasional snow and temperatures dropping below freezing, all fifteen participants successfully reached the base camp. The group’s achievement was supported by a professional team of guides and porters who ensured safety and comfort throughout the journey.
“This successful trek reinforces Nepal’s position as a premier destination for adventure tourism,” noted Mr. Raju Rai, Sr. Sales & Operations Manager at Mission Nepal Holidays. “The completion rate of all fifteen participants speaks to both their preparation and our company’s commitment to professional trek management.”
The trek also contributed to the local economy, with the group staying in community-operated tea houses and engaging with local businesses along the route. This aligns with Mission Nepal Holidays’ commitment to sustainable tourism practices and community support in the Himalayan region.
As international tourism continues to grow in Nepal’s mountain regions, this successful trek serves as an inspiring example for other Southeast Asian travel groups considering the Annapurna Base Camp trek. Mission Nepal Holidays reports an increasing number of inquiries from Malaysian and other Southeast Asian tour groups for similar treks in the coming seasons.
The group departed from Kathmandu today, carrying with them memories of their Himalayan adventure and a deeper appreciation for Nepal’s natural and cultural heritage. Their achievement adds to the growing list of successful international treks in the Annapurna region, further cementing its reputation as one of the world’s premier trekking destinations.
