Trip Overview
Trekking across the stunning Khaptad National Park, which spans 225 square kilometers, takes eight to ten days.
The journey to Nepalgunj in the Banke district starts with a picturesque drive from Kathmandu. From there, you go by car to Buditola and then hike through scenic towns and thick forests to the 3,000-meter-high Khaptad plateau.
Grasslands, alpine forests, and breathtaking Himalayan vistas are the main draws of the Khaptad plateau. Along with a diverse array of fauna, the region is home to over 200 different species of birds as well as musk deer, wild boar, and Himalayan black bears.
Being a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists, the Khaptad Baba Ashram is one of the primary draws of the Khaptad Trek. Khaptad Baba, a well-known Hindu saint who resided in the region in the 1940s, is the reason behind the construction of the ashram.
