ARRIVE MUMBAI

Fly to Mumbai from Kathmandu. You will be greeted and taken to your hotel upon arrival. You can appreciate the stunning scenery while spending your lovely night at the hotel.

Bombay, Mumbai Following breakfast in the morning, you will continue with a full-day sightseeing tour of Mumbai, stopping at the city’s most famous monument, the Gateway of India.A yellow basalt arch was erected on the shore in 1924, commemorating King George V’s visit to this colony in 1911. Continue down Marine Drive, which is also known as the “Queen’s Necklace,” passing the Maharashtra Government Secretariat and the Afghan Church. See Chowpatty, Kamala Nehru Park, Mani Bhavan, Mahatma Gandhi’s home when he was in Mumbai, and the Jain Temple and Hanging Gardens for an amazing view of the city. Pass Haji Ali Mosque, a mosque named after a Muslim saint that is 500 meters offshore and has a causeway connecting it to land. Go to ‘Dhobi Ghat,’ where Mumbai’s ‘dirties’ are cleaned, bleached, colored, and let to air dry. Take note of the local train nearby, where commuters from the city “hang out like laundry.” It’s an excellent location for photos. Head for the bustling Crawford market and the Flora fountain, which are located in the open, energetic city center district.

MUMBAI / BOMBAY

After a delicious breakfast, you will go on a half-day journey to Elephanta Caves. An early morning tour to the 1,2000-year-old Elephanta Caves, located across Mumbai Harbor, to see some of the most stunning rock carvings from that era. The massive monument masterfully captures the image of the famous Trimurti sculpture, which shows three faces on Shiva, signifying his three personalities: Creator, Preserver, and Destroyer. During the monsoon, Monday through Sunday are closed.
