Itinerary

Paro Arrival

Travel to the Rinpung Dzong, which translates to “fortress of the heap of jewels.” The Kichu Lhakhang and Drugyel Dzong will be visited as well, if time permits. Spend the evening at a Paro hotel.

Paro – Haa – En Route Hike to Chele La Pass

We start our journey to Chele La Pass via car. It was a magnificent journey into the mountains above the Haa river as we swung through these side valleys and entered the Haa Valley, passing through little towns and villages along the way. Discover the wonders of the several temples and Lhakhang strewn over the valley during an exploration of this remote traditional town, just south of Paro and lately opened to tourists.

Bhutan’s Chele La Pass

Winding your way back out of the Haa Valley, the ascent to Chele La Pass at 3810 meters offers views of the breathtaking Mount Jhomolhari and Haa Valley. admiring the landscape while making a prayer flag offering, a Buddhist custom intended to acquire merit for reincarnation. Spend the night in a Haa hotel.

Haa – Thimphu

You will arrive in Thimphu, the capital city, today after passing through traditional villages and paddy field terraces. Alpine trees and golden-topped monasteries dot the steep valley that is home to the capital. Thimphu’s bustling main street is a hub for trade and a popular meeting place for locals. a leisurely stroll around the main core, approximately 2350 meters, of this enormous city with its teahouses, artisan emporiums, and small streets.

looking at the freshly churned butter, dried and fresh chiles, and forest mushrooms—among the many locally created artisan goods—in the farmers market. There are many of things to do this afternoon, such as visit the National Textile Museum and the Memorial Chorten, where people are performing a circle pilgrimage known as “Kora” and bringing butter candles as offerings.

Thimphu – Paro – Taktsang Monastery

Day 4 begins with an ascent to the breathtaking 3,140-meter Taktsang Monastery. Guru Rinpoche, who is supposed to have flown on the back of a tigress while perched on a rock in the ninth century, is reported to have meditated here. This major Buddhist pilgrimage destination in the Himalayas is really amazing, with its gorgeous architecture and amazing views set against the backdrop of sheer granite cliff sides. After descending from Taktsang, have a picnic lunch in the Paro Valley.

Paro Departure

Time to say goodbye. Breakfast and morning at leisure until getting escorted to the airport for a flight coming back home. The trip ends. Hope you enjoyed it and wish that we could serve you next time in Bhutan.

I had a wonderful interesting 6 days trip to Bhutan. It’s a unique Buddhist kingdom with amazing views and breathtaking stupas and temples. I had a great devoted guides escorting, driving and showing me the different landscape and ancient cultures of this place. A truly unique experience.
