This thirteen-day Annapurna Luxury Lodge Trek offers a sumptuous wildlife safari in Chitwan National Park, a city tour of Kathmandu, and a trek in the Annapurna region. After a few unforgettable days in Chitwan’s National Park, the tour comes to an end with a flight back to Kathmandu.

Itinerary

01

Arrival in Kathmandu 1400m/4594ft.

A Kantipur Holidays representative will meet us at the Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu and take us to the hotel of our choice. We might take a little snooze after checking in or visit the Kantipur Holidays office. A welcome dinner featuring authentic Nepalese food and a brief cultural presentation will be held at a typical Nepalese restaurant in the evening.

Kathmandu Sightseeing

Today, we begin a guided tour of some of Kathmandu’s most significant historical and spiritual landmarks after breakfast. Several of these sites are also UNESCO World Heritage sites. We visit the revered Hindu temple Pashupatinath, the well-known “Monkey Temple” of Swayambhunath, the historic Durbar Square in Kathmandu, and the Buddhist shrine Bouddhanath, which is also the location of one of the biggest stupas in the world. After lunch, we reconvene at the Kantipur Holidays office to talk about our itinerary and to have our trekking guide inspect our equipment.

Drive to Pokhara and trek preparation 822m/2696ft.

We will leave Kathmandu early in the morning and go to Pokhara, also referred to as the “Lake City of Nepal.” With a lunch break at a traditional Nepali roadside café, the trip should take six to seven hours. We’ll be brought to our prearranged accommodation in Pokhara so we can unwind there after arriving. Our trip leader will meet with us later in the early evening to give us an update on our forthcoming journey in the Annapurna region. In addition to making sure we have all the gear we need for the journey, the trek leader will go over the specifics of the itinerary and give us an idea of what to expect each day.

Drive to Nayapul, hike to Birethanti 1150m/3773ft.

After breakfast, we will drive for around one hour to get to Nayapul, where our hike will start. There will be wide-ranging views of Pokhara as we follow a ridgeline in the lower Annapurna foothills. We will start our stroll slowly and stop for lunch somewhere along the road before reaching our daily target. After lunch, we’ll carry on hiking down a track that eventually meets the Modi River Valley, taking us to Birethanti. From there, we will be driven to the first of our comfortable Ker and Downey lodges, Sanctuary Lodge. This chalet was constructed in the traditional alpine style by local artisans.

Trek to Ghandruk 1940m/6365ft.

After breakfast at Sanctuary Lodge, we will start our day’s journey by traveling by farms and retracing the Modi River Valley. After some time of walking, we will begin to ascend up into the mountainous areas and out of the river valley. As we rise, we will see countless small villages, terraced rice fields, and forests while admiring breath-taking views of the valley below. When we get in Ghandruk and the Himalayan Lodge, where we will spend the night, we will have lunch. After lunch, we will return to our accommodations, which offer amazing close-up views of the Annapurna peaks, and relax for the rest of the day.

Trek to Landruk 1565m/5135ft.

As we watch the sun rise over the majestic Himalayan peaks, which include the Annapurna ranges, Mt. Hiunchuli, Mt. Gangapurna, and Mt. Machhapuchhre, we will wake up to morning tea and have coffee in the garden area. Having breakfast and taking in the breathtaking surroundings, we will continue our climb, moving on from Landruk. After descending a steep slope to the Modi River’s banks, we’ll cross a strong suspension bridge to get to the other side. After another hour or so of walking around bends and turns, we will arrive at the Gurung Village of Landruk and check into the La Bee Lodge, where we will spend the night. Landruk has some amazing views of the Annapurna peaks because it is perched on a cliff edge with stunning views that go on forever. After eating lunch at the lodge and taking a little break, we will spend the late afternoon touring the village.

Trek to Majgaon 1400m/4593ft.

We will start our hike in the direction of Majgaun after eating breakfast at La Bee Lodge. As we pass through tiny villages and farmland, the trail will take us along the hillside with some mild uphill and downhill sections. Ultimately, we will reach Majgaun village and travel to Gurung Lodge, our last lodging for Ker and Downey throughout this journey. We’ll have a nice meal there and then spend some time unwinding in our rooms. We’ll be free to tour the neighborhood and take in the amazing views for the remainder of the afternoon.

Trek to Dhampus 1650m/5414ft.

We will leave Gurung Lodge after breakfast and continue our climb towards Patlekhet, a small village on the Pothana trail. Before reaching Basanta Lodge, which is near Dhampus Village, the majority of the hike is through subtropical forests. We will be served a delicious lunch when we arrive at the lodge, after which we can spend some time relaxing in our rooms. Gazing upon the magnificent vistas of the entire Annapurna range from Dhampus, we may set aside our tiredness. After lunch, we can choose to stroll a short distance to Dhampus Village or just kick back and enjoy the breathtaking surroundings from the comfort of our lodge.

Trek to Phedi, drive to Pokhara

After breakfast, we follow a stone stairway down to the valley level, passing through terraced farmlands and along the mountainside. We will reach Phedi after two more hours of hiking, where we will hop on a private vehicle to go to Pokhara. When we arrive in Pokhara, we will be shown to our hotel room. From there, we can shop or explore the lakefront area for the remainder of the afternoon. If there’s time, we may also take a leisurely boat trip on the gorgeous Phewa Lake or visit the Mountain Museum.

Drive to Chitwan, village walks 415m/1362ft.

Today, we’re heading out of Pokhara and toward the Nepalese lowlands, or Chitwan. We will receive details on the numerous activities scheduled during our stay at Chitwan National Park after checking into our accommodation upon arrival. We will later stroll along the Rapti River, which flows through Chitwan’s subtropical jungles, to see the sunset. We will also take a village stroll to get a glimpse of the way of life of the local Tharu people. We will have dinner and a cultural event in the evening that features tribal dances that are exclusive to the Chitwan region.

Jungle Activities in Chitwan National Park

Today, we have a range of activities planned, including bird viewing, hiking in the forest, cruising the Rapti River in a dugout boat, and going on a jeep safari to look for the endangered Chitwan one-horned rhino. Along with gharial and mugger crocodiles, we could get up close and personal with freshwater dolphins, otters, and a variety of aquatic birds while canoeing. If time permits, we’ll take a nature walk or go bird watching with informed local naturalists in the park’s less forested areas. Now that Chitwan National Park is home to a diverse array of natural plants and animals, we have the chance to get up close and personal with them. After our park exploration, we’ll head back to our hotel room to unwind before supper.

Fly back to Kathmandu

We will pack our bags and be ready for our quick 25-minute flight to Kathmandu after we eat our breakfast. We will be escorted to the domestic airport well in advance of when we are scheduled to depart. Once in Kathmandu, we will check into our hotel room and unwind for a while. We have free time in the afternoon to tour the city and shop for last-minute presents or local mementos. To celebrate the end of our wonderful trip in Nepal, we will get together for a goodbye meal in the evening.

Departure

After breakfast, we will pack our bags and get ready for the quick 25-minute flight to Kathmandu. We will be transported to the domestic airport well in advance of our scheduled departure time. When we arrive in Kathmandu, we will check into our hotel and unwind. We are free to tour the city and purchase for last-minute gifts or local mementos during the afternoon. We’ll get together for a farewell supper in the evening to celebrate the end of our productive trip in Nepal.
