Trip Overview
Gosainkunda is the holy lake for Hindus with an alpine freshwater. It is situated at an altitude of 4,380 meter within Langtang National Park, Rasuwa district, where pilgrims congregate on specific days of the year to wash off their sin. Thousands of people trek to this glacier lake every August. The trek passes through varied landscapes ranging from evergreen forest, cascading waterfalls and turbulent streams to alpine grass and barren mountainsides. The main attraction of this trek is 108 glacier lakes of different sizes
In Hindu mythology, Gosainkunda is an adobe of Lord Shiva and Gauri. Every year of Janai Purnima, thousands of Hindu pilgrims come here to worships god Shiva from different countries.
Besides the famous Gosainkunda Lake, other lakes in the neighborhood are Nagkunda, Bhairab kunda, Saraswati kunda and Suraj kunda. It lies to the north-west of Helambu beyond a 4,602-meters high pass. However, the best approach to Gosainkunda is through Trishuli valley, 71 kilometers north-west of Kathmandu. Trishuli valley is linked with Kathmandu by motor-able road.
Gosaikunda trekking is remote trekking route which is less commercialized and offer to experience different culture. The 10 days trekking extends with the drive to Syabrunbesi, trek to Sing Gompa and Gosainkunda. Trip Itinerary

Day 1:
Arrival in Kathmandu & transfer to hotel
Welcome to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. You will be greeted by a representative of Mission Nepal Holiday’s at the airport and transferred to your hotel for overnight as per itinerary. In the evening, you can enjoy the cultural dinner at your hotel.

Day 2:
Kathmandu to Syabrunbesi by Bus
The distance between Kathmandu and Syabrubensi is 122 km. We can reach Syabrubensi from Kathmandu in 9 to 10 hours by bus. Kathmandu to Syabrubensi route is Balaju- Nagarjun- Okharpauwa- Kakani- Ranipauwa- Belkot- Pipaltar- Bidhur- Trishuli Bajar- Bhainse- Betarwati- Kalikastan- Ramche (enter on Langtang National National Park)- Thade- Dhunche_ Thulo Barkhu- Syabrunbesi. It is a beautiful village inside the Langtang National park and lies near the banks of Trishuli River. We stay overnight at lodge.

Day 3:
Syabrunbesi to Sing Gompa
After breakfast in Syabrunbesi, we head towards the Sing Gompa. The trail passes through beautiful forest of high Hilly regions. We trek steep up until we reach Sing Gompa through Rhododendron, pine and oak forest. There is Chandanbari host which is the oldest Yak cheese factories of Nepal. Sing Gompa has great religious fame in Langtang region. We stay overnight at lodge of Sing Gompa.

Day 4;
Sing Gompa to Gosainkunda
On this day, we need to hike five and half hours. We see the dramatic views of Hiunchuli, Manaslu range, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung and Tibetan peaks which are highlight of the adventure when we trek towards Gosainkunda. Besides the famous Gosainkunda Lake, other lakes in the neighborhood are Nagkunda, Bhairab kunda, Saraswati kunda and Suraj kunda. We stay overnight at Gosaikunda.

Day 5:
Gosainkunda to Ghopte
On the morning of this day, we wake early and hike to Lauribina Pass (4.610) which is the highest point of our entire trek. It takes two and half hour. After that, our trail descends from Gosainkunda to Ghopte. We pass through deep forest. We spend overnight at loge of Ghopte.

Day 6:
Ghopte to Tharepati
After having breakfast at Ghopte, we start our trek to Tharepati which takes two to three hours. Tharepati is a popular view point of Langtang region. We pass through green forest of Rhododendron, Fair, Junipor, Oak and other trees. We spend our remaining day by walking around town. We stay overnight at Tharepati.

Day 7:
Tharepati to Kutumsang
After having breakfast at Tharepati, we leave and start a hike to Kutumsang. It takes five to six hours. After Tharepati, our whole trail is downhill. Kutumsang is a small town which has few lodges with full traveler’s facilities.

Day 8:
Kutumsang to Chisapani
On this day, if we wake up early in the morning we can see great view of sunrise in long range of majestic Himalayan on North side. We enjoy breakfast in Kutumsang and descend down towards Chisapani village. In the trek we pass via different villages such as Jogini Danda, Gul BhanJyang, Thotung Danda, Chhipling and Patibhanjyang. The trail is downhill but just before reaching Chisapani,we need to take a short steep climbing. This is last night in Himalayas. We spend overnight at lodge.

Day 9:
Chisapani to Kathmandu - transfer to hotel
This is last day of our trek. After having breakfast at Chisapani, we start our hike to Sundarijal. The trail is mostly downhill. We pass via Borlang Bhanjyang and Mula Kharka village and reach Sundarijal which is inside the Kathmandu valley. Our vehicle waits us at Sundarijal. When we arrive at Kathmandu, our representatives transfer you to the respective hotel. In the evening, you have farewell dinner to celebrate completion of the journey. Stay overnight at Kathmandu.

Day 10:
Final Departure
This is the last day of your trip. Our company representatives assist you to get to the airport as per your flight departure time.

How many hours do we have to walk during the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek?
On an average, you will have to walk 6 -7 hours per day. As you have to constantly ascend and descend to and from at an altitude of around 1000m. However this can fluctuate in case if the weather turns bad.

Do I need a trekking permit to go on Langtang Gosaikunda trek?
While taking this trek, you need to have a TIMs card, and the Langtang National Park entry permit. It is mandatory to have permits, in case if you don’t then you’ll face complications and it is a punishable offence.

What kind of food do I eat during the trek?
The common Nepali staple comprises dal bhat. However, in these high parts, you won’t find that also. Instead, people eat dhido and vegetables. In some lodges, you can find popular Nepalese fast food like momo and chow mein.Â

Where will I stay during Langtang Gosaikunda trek?
During this trek, you will be staying in the teahouses. A teahouse is a small lodge type accommodation which is run by the locals. The rooms are neat, clean with showers and are comparatively cheaper than the lodges.Â

Is there any risk of altitude sickness?
The trail sees an increase in altitude by at least 300 meters daily. The maximum height reached in this trek is 4000 meters. So, there is a high risk of altitude sickness. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, and sickness. If you feel sick, then we advise you to take a rest and continue slowly. Â

Why is it a better idea to trek with an agency rather than trekking independently?
Trekking independently is doable, but involves seen and unforeseen risks. On the other hand trekking with the recognized agencies gives you the advantage of trekking under a systematic and a well-planned schedule. Most of the time, you will be travelling with a group.
The agency will also provide you with a guide and a porter. Trekking with an agency will be a little more expensive than trekking independently or solo.
